The Opiate of the Masses

Here’s a cool video (below) from Fr. Barron I wanted to share. He’s a really neat priest and is very good at articulating some really important aspects of life and our Faith. You can check out his website here.

Also check out the movie trailer for his latest project called The Catholicism Project.  It looks like it is going to be absolutely outstanding.  Please spread the word about this project and support it if possible.  I can’t wait to see it!

In the meantime, here is one of his periodic youTube videos with some insightful thoughts he shares on atheism and religion.  I enjoyed them a lot.  Thank you, Fr. Barron!

i see where he’s coming from, but many don’t deny God. It’s like God’s given them a free coupon to only believe in Him and then, enjoy yourself like an Atheist. Egotism, regarding regulating your life, may be the opiate. Sex drugs and rock n roll help though, as they, too, serve as distractions. I’m not sure the soul enjoys the hyperactivity of Christian rock/rap but, if the rock and rap has serious messages and you can understand the words as they sing, shout or rap them, then the soul will be edified (though I still think it prefers the classics, even if Latin or Greek is not understood). Still, too much of that is not a good thing as a kind of R&R sound. You can get too dreamy, then, and be less productive, labor and/or prayer-wise–in my untheologically-trained opinion.

Excellent video, Matt! Wow, what a great answer to the tired old Marxist mantra. Thanks for the post.
