Is our national debt immoral?

Something not often talked about when dealing with the issue of “social justice” is the problem of our national debt. What is socially just about spending money we don’t have and relying on the next generation to pay it back? Is it justified? At what point does the burden of our debt we pass along to our children become immoral? As Catholics, this should at least be somewhere in the calculation. What do you think?
