Quote: Women’s Rights?

“A woman who sets her rights, the supposed right to privacy or right over her own body, above the life of another human being is saying that a woman’s rights are superior to human rights. She has put herself above the human race, she has made herself the executor over life and death. Is that a woman’s right?” – Dr. Janet Smith

This quote hits on the absurdity of the “right to privacy” argument in terms of abortion. In opposing abortion, nobody is taking away rights, we are protecting them! Nobody has the “right” to intentionally and directly end the life of another innocent human being.

In supporting abortion, you are not supporting women’s rights – no matter how many times you tell yourself that. In fact, you are very plainly supporting the violation of another human being’s right to live. To insist that somebody’s privacy takes precedence over the life of another human being is the height of absurdity and injustice. Nobody has that right.

Great point. My wife and I were talking philosophically the other day about this very issue. If the woman believes in her right to choose, then she is essentially saying the morality of her ability to choose trumps the morality of the principle of life and death. The pro-abortion side has spun this issue into the hearts and minds of our nation’s young women and claims to have omitted any morality debate. Sadly, ignoring the debate doesn’t mean there’s not a misstep into sin and morality.
How backwards do we have this?

When looking at the rights of women, I think of our mother Mary.

“Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be [done] to me according to your word.”

Well said, keep saying it. Eventually you’ll win over the heart and mind of someone who believes otherwise. God bless!

LOVE this quote! Thank You SOOOO Much for posting this! Janet Smith is a phenomenal Pro-Life champion who has shed much light on the truth about contraception, and, so-called, “women’s rights” and is a true feminist!

when asked her name Our Lady replied to Bernadette “I am the Immaculate Conception.” That is sufficient for any of us to know that life, from the moment of conception, is precious.

Great quote, Matthew! I will be putting this one in my Common Place book.

The issue of a “woman’s right to privacy” is just another version of “You will be like gods!” That is the point: A woman who claims that her right to privacy trumps all other concerns is playing God!
