Quote of the Day: The fashion of fallacy

“Fallacies do not cease to be fallacies because they become fashions.” – G. K. Chesterton

A great quote by my favorite author. Unfortunately, we have a society that is increasingly far more concerned with being in fashion than being in Truth. Any thoughts?

This quote is so profound – and a great testament to the Catholic Church.

Throughout the changing fads of society – over the thousands of days, weeks, months, years, decades, centuries and milleniums that the Church has existed, the Catholic Church has always proclaimed the same Truth.

They have the same beliefs in our “MTV generation” as they did in Jesus’ generation. They speak out against the same evils today as they did hundreds of years ago.

And in an age where secularism, materialism, individualism and relativism prevail, it’s comforting to know that we have a compass to guide us. Like a wise grandparent in a sea of misguided teenagers, the Church is often unpopular, seemingly “old fashioned,” and referred to as “out of touch.”

But the older and wiser we get, we realize how right our grandparents were all along. If we had only followed their advice, imagine the heartache we would save ourselves. :)

Great blog!
