Quote of the Day: Fruit of profound union

A great reminder of the importance of having silence in our lives.

If we want union with God, we must know His will. To know His will we must listen. To be able to listen we must allow some time for silence. Carving some silence out of our day, setting aside our daily distractions and busyness, says to God, “I value what you have to say more than all of this other stuff.” Silence gives him room and chance to speak. It’s polite too.

“The most generous choices, especially the persevering, are the fruit of profound and prolonged union with God in prayerful silence.” – Pope John Paul II

Boy, is this true. And hard to achieve in today’s hustle bustle world. Great quote.

I really have a difficult time finding silence throughout the day, maybe this is just an excuse. I know some of you are thinking I have an opportunity of silence right now instead of typing on this blog…. perhaps you are right.

mmmm, I like that. I am thankful for my 20 min. adoration time today. With 3 small kiddos, the silence of adoration is amazingly refreshing!

Well put Matt. Before children and careers, I was able to carve out a few hours every day for study, prayer, memorization of Scripture. I used to think, ‘how do people not have 30 minutes for the Lord?’
Now, working in ministry, I see everyday people who struggle to carve out that time and try to help them “make the time.”

The fruit of Silence is Prayer.
The fruit of Prayer is Faith.
The fruit of Faith is Love.
The fruit of Love is Service.
The fruit of Service is Peace.
