I can't say this is orthodox, but it seems to help me. Giving things up is good, but don't give up on lent if you think you can't give things up, try giving things in. ideas? read my bible every day (usccb.org/nab) read my bible every day til I've read it all - I like the one year NIV daily mass, adoration, or prayer, (rosary?,) or a combination thereof visit the sick, feed the poor wake up every morning and say, "Good Morning, God. Thank you for this day. I love you. Help me to be good. Help me to be an asset, and not a detriment to Your Will." love you, may your journey be joyful. I go into Lent armed with a list of things that I am going to 'do without'. Yet, as Lent progresses the Lord Jesus seems to say "No, you are going to give me your Lent and I am going to show you what I want you to work out of your life."...He reveals truths about myself that I end up viewing, praying over and working out.
