Pro-life Gem on American Idol

Paris Tassin - American Idol

I enjoy watching American Idol, especially now with the new judges. It’s got its flaws. But overall it is nice to see people using their God given talents and going after their dreams. It’s also a fairly interesting slice of pop culture.

Last week they had a great story of a young Mom of a special needs child. Due to her daughter’s in utero diagnosis of hydrocephalus – water on the brain – the doctors encouraged her to abort her child. You can watch what happened with this pro-life story (bringing Jennifer Lopez to tears) in the American Idol clip below:

I liked this audition too. It’s great when the story speaks for itself and there doesn’t have to be an announcement that a pro-life message is coming. About 25 million people saw this audition on prime time network television so who knows how many seeds it planted that might cause another young mother to carry her child to birth. It’s moments like these that TV needs more of.

Thanks for posting this. If I had more skill on the internet I would have done so myself. I watched this live and was thinking, “we have to get this out on the internet. Too many will not see this pro-life message for what it is if we do not.” Thanks for being the ‘we’ who took action and not the ‘me’ who did not.

God’s blessing

Wow…what a great clip. It reinforces the fact that there are “everyday saints” still left in this world. This young girl made decision (probably based on her personal relationship with God), to maintain & protect human life, even when her doctors encouraged her to do otherwise. What’s a shame is that this girl wasn’t even at an abortion clinic and she was still being solicited to have one…
Thank you for sharing!

I loved that audition. She was one of my favorites of the first audition show. I hope she does very well because she was a beautiful voice and a great story. :)

I’m not categorically opposed to copyright as some are, but seriously — what has possessed the Imperial Enforcers to decide this was not fair use?

Enness – Thanks for the comment…didn’t realize they’d pulled the video. But I found another one that they allow embedding on and updated the post. Peace!
