I echo this brother’s assessment. and I’m french :)

Serve the poor. Pray for the sick. God shows up.

I had the pleasure of going to Paris & London and visiting Notre Dame last summer and have to agree. As a practicing Catholic, I did not feel God in any of the churches I visited. When I say that, you have to understand the feeling you get walking into your own church on a regular basis and “Feeling” Gods presence. I felt darkness and emptiness in Europe. I felt as if they, the churches I visited, were just tourist traps rather then “Gods House”. I felt rather sad for Europe. It taught me a lot. It taught me how important my faith was to me and how my mission in life is to pass that faith I have on to my children so they can pass it on to theirs.

For what it’s worth, I had the opposite experience at Notre Dame in Paris, at Sacre Couer in the same, in Assisi, in St. Peter’s, and in Cologne at the Dom.

Fr. Barron’s assessment fails to understand how secularised Europe has become. France ceased to be a Catholic country since the ‘Revolution’ and the millions killed in both World Wars, doesn’t explain how Poland, Ireland and Malta are still bucking the European trend of ‘indifference’ to our Christan faith. One out of every five people in Poland were killed during the second world war. Poland was a different society at the end of the war. Ireland was ‘Neutral’ and had experienced dreadful violence during the War of Independence and then a ‘Civil War’. Malta suffered dreadful destruction and high civilian casualties. Europe is disconnected from her own culture, history and indeed future…the dismal birth rate will be the end of Europe!

Churches are empty because education is on the rise. More college graduates are coming out every year making up a higher % of the population. All things being equal (meaning exceptions aside) its hard to impossible for a college grad to believe in stories that start out with a talking snake. I am happy churches are becoming empty and people are freeing themselves from the tyranny and stupidity of superstitious belief.

You’re wrong. Churches are empty because sin is on the rise.

Just because the people are being educated doesn’t mean they’re being taught the right things.

hehe u stupid ppl, what would you worth without God?
the problem that education has made some brainiacs feels like they own the world and that they are so important than God. They even don’t believe in God or think their self as GODS.
Too bad it’s gonna be too late to regret when the time will come.
many stupid Europeans live sadly without children even without real happiness, with a lot of money, and die sadly with no one really care about them. ppl around them only cares about the money that they will have after his death.
and those who change their religion or become muslims, well they don’t know what they are loosing, in fact they would know too late in what mess they entered in, when their is no way back.
just keep in mind that many had thought that God doesn’t exist since the very first, since Ibrahim, but put in mind, that When u Less BeliVE in God, and when ur in a case when no1 can save you or help you you gonna experience the existence of the Lord.
Christianity is very rich in proves of the existence of God, and everywhere you look you gonna see a place where a Saint lived, or where he died. and churches everywhere. Why don’t we see any Saint in Europe in our decades? Where is the real believe? Is Lebanon and other countries better than rest of the Christians countries in Europe? do you know that in Lebanon how many are in their way to become Saints? the last 25 years 3 saints came from Lebanon, and many are to follow. Where is Europe from Christianity now in this days? did the Europeans forgot their past? they forgot who they were?
They think if they change their religion, or don’t belive in it, neither in God, that they would live better richer, happier…. well weak up cz it’s only an illusion!!! because a human is a human, and God is God. a human can’t be better than his God. not even at his place.
“A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. 25It is enough for the student to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebub, how much more the members of his household! “Matthew 10: 24-25
Go back to faith it’s the only way to the endless happiness. It’s maybe a hard path, but nothing comes easily at the end.
