One of the priests in our area who happens to be African American mentioned this in a homily - he too, is astounded at the support given by that community. If you take a look at the numbers, the stats still show overwhelmingly that it is the minority population, esp. African Americans who are "beneficiaries" of this "service." I don't get it - I just don't get it.
