Election Day and 40 Days

Today is election day. Tomorrow, we will probably know who our new president will be. If Barack Obama is that new president, the rights of the unborn could be set back decades. So let us pray that he does not win.  And let us encourage others to vote with us for LIFE!

However, if Obama does win, although it may mean the end of more innocent human life in the womb, it is not the end of the road. There are many good things that have come from this election cycle. And having such an extreme proponent of abortion in a candidate such as Barack Obama has at least brought more awareness to the issue of abortion – which is a good thing. And ultimately that awareness is the most important thing in ending abortion in our country – not who holds the presidency.

Obviously, if our country elects Barack Obama, it is because we have not yet done a good enough job of informing voters of the truth about the dignity of human life. Stopping abortion in our country is not simply about making it illegal again – it’s about making it unthinkable.  So let us continue to courageously proclaim this truth.  No matter who is elected, there is still much work to be done.

The end of this election season also marks the end of the 40 days for life campaign.  Here is a bit of exciting news I just received from them today:

On a day when many are stressed about elections, I just heard from one of our 40 Days for Life local campaign leaders who is bouncing off the walls with the exciting news that the abortion facility that was the focus of their campaign over these last 40 days is CLOSING!!

The “Space Available” real estate sign was put in front of the building on Thursday — day 37 of the campaign. Yesterday, the local leader confirmed with the real estate company that the abortionist is shutting the business down for good.

We will have more details, including the location, as soon as the facility is closed — which should happen very soon. But I knew you’d want to know that your prayers have produced an amazing result!

And another INCREDIBLE victory: as reports continue to roll in from around the country about the impact of the 40 Days for Life campaign that just ended, the number of confirmed lives saved during the 40 days is…520!!

I was priviledged and blessed to be a part of our campaign here in Fort Worth, TX.  It is an outstanding organization and is obviously winning many victories in the pro-life movement.  So I wanted to share that bit of GREAT news to encourage all of you and remind you that, even if the election does not go the way of LIFE, we still have much to celebrate and give thanks for.

God bless you all and please pray for our country on this very important day.

Wow I had a heavy heart when reading the first half of this post b/c I am so nervous of the outcome of today.

However, there are great things still being done and reading about the clinic being shut down and 540 lives being saved gave me chills! How great is our god!

Congrats to all who participated in this campaign.
