Do You Love Life?

Are you pro-life or pro-choice?

I wanted to make a short video that might, in a small way, help people better connect the political issue of abortion to the reality of abortion. So I took a crack at it.

Our choices (and votes) have real-life consequences. Please watch my latest video below and let me know what you think of it. Are you pro-life or pro-choice?

Many people don’t realize that because state laws restricting late-term abortions include exceptions for the “health of the mother” (physical, mental or otherwise) that abortions can legally still occur up until the moment of birth. The loose interpretation of what the “health of the mother” means effectively allows abortions to happen for just about any reason at any time.

Basically, if somebody wants to kill their baby for any reason at all, they can easily have it done legally – even if the baby is only minutes younger than this baby.

Amen…. Amen. It just makes me so tender to see such sweetness and the part of plan that that baby is… and to think our society has become so self-absorbed and self-controlling that it would end a baby’s existence. God help us find a way, please.

It would be more challenging, but ultimately as powerful, if the video showed a crack baby already experiencing withdrawal.

Matt,
It’s great – keep plugging away. We never know how people are touched in different ways by different media. God bless and Happy Easter.

I appreciate the video and its message but i think it could be soooo much better. First of all, use the term “newborn” instead of “baby”. It helps to establish age and fits with the message much better. Also, as i read the text and listen to the upbeat tempo of the music, i envision a slide show of pictures taken right after the child is born that show the true essence of “a few minutes younger”. Pictures that show doctors crowding around the newborn cleaning them up and making sure the child is healthy. I think these two changes would connect the video to the text much more than it currently is. Thanks for the message anyhow.

Great video, exactly as it is. My daughter, just two days old and still in the hospital, also had beautiful expressions on her face of deep joy and peace that I will never forget. I shared your video on my Facebook page too. Thank you.

It’s an excellent video, Matthew, thank you for making it!
God bless you.

Hello,
By any chance do you know how old the baby is? Love the video, and just wondered if you knew that information.

Thanks

Matthew Warner April 29, 2010 at 11:12 am

The baby is a newborn. I don’t know the actual age of the baby playing the newborn in the video. But for the point of the video, the baby has just been born, cleaned up and swaddled.

Matthew, I would like to point this out.

This is a quote from Professor of Reproductive medicine Allison Murdoch. It’s from 2005.

ALISON MURDOCH
Professor of reproductive medicine
I believe that life does not begin at conception, but I have no proof. I am an atheist and I believe in the sanctity of life but not that there is a higher spirit up there creating it. I don’t think there is a magic moment when life begins. I favour a gradualist approach. Once a baby is born, it is an individual. But there’s a time before that when it is still part of the woman who is carrying it. At the very early stages of pregnancy, she has the right to make decisions about it. As the pregnancy develops, the growing infant acquires its independent rights.

While I respect the value of a fertilised egg because it has the capacity to create a baby, I do not look on it in the same way that I would regard a child. Life should be respected differently at different stages. A fertilised egg is not a life; it is a potential life. I can’t prove this, but my work is based on it. If I felt that every fertilised egg that I created for IVF was an individual person, I couldn’t do my job. We create hundreds of embryos every week; eight to ten for each person, only ever using two.”

There you have it; an atheist Professor of reproductive medicine agrees that there is no proof that she is not killing somebody. Yet she does it anyway.

Sickening.

….what an absolute tragedy abortion is. I am completely sorrowful over the disgusting people who support this crime “especially” in 1st trimester abortions. Those children “deserve” to live from the moment of conception. Who are those disgusting people to say whether their early development makes them less human or not. How evil, how inhuman, how destructive…..just pure violence and hatred is what drives the abortion movement….such a moevement who ‘chooses’ to treat children like worthless scum.
