Astonished at how much the old man had learned

Mark Twain

What a difference a little perspective makes…

“When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.” – Mark Twain

Notthat there’s anything wrong with this quote, but it’s interesting that you quote Mark Twain, who was by all counts quite anti-religious.

I don’t get the sense that Twain was anti-religious. He satirizes foolishness and collectively we the religious have plenty of that to offer.
