All is Calm

Nativity Scene

The world is at war, the economy in crisis, and the malls packed. But tonight – all is calm.

The winter days are short, the department stores in the black, and our sins dark. But tonight – all is bright.

The Savior is born!

This calmness is our opportunity to reflect on the brightness – on the birth of Christ. Here are some cool quotes to help in that reflection. Merry Christmas everyone!

“The mystery of the Holy Night, which historically happened two thousand years ago, must be lived as a spiritual event in the ‘today’ of the Liturgy. The Word who found a dwelling in Mary’s womb comes to knock on the heart of every person with singular intensity this Christmas.” – Pope John Paul II

“The mark of the Christian is the willingness to look for the Divine in the flesh of a babe in a crib, the continuing Christ under the appearance of bread on an altar, and a meditation and a prayer on a string of beads.” – Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

“Joy is the true gift of Christmas, not the expensive gifts that call for time and money. We can communicate this joy simply: with a smile, a kind gesture, a little help, forgiveness. And the joy we give will certainly come back to us.…Let us pray that this presence of the liberating joy of God shines forth in our lives.” – Pope Benedict XVI

“The great majority of people will go on observing forms that cannot be explained; they will keep Christmas Day with Christmas gifts and Christmas benedictions; they will continue to do it; and some day suddenly wake up and discover why.” – G.K. Chesterton

“Celebrate the feast of Christmas every day, even every moment in the interior temple of your spirit, remaining like a baby in the bosom of the heavenly Father, where you will be reborn each moment in the Divine Word, Jesus Christ.” – St. Paul of the Cross

“Thanksgiving comes after Christmas.” – Peter Kreeft

Saw that you were following me on Twitter. Those are some beautiful quotes. I especially like the one from G.K. Chesterton. Thanks and Merry Christmas.~~Dee
