Bill, can you tell me why god hates cripples. Why does god never regenerate the legs of cripples no matter how fervently they pray?

Great Post. I have been on both sides of the fence and have only recently discovered the truth.

I believe that the lack of sufficient catechesis has greatly led to the fall of Catholics who adopt society's "anything goes" attitude. We need to prepare our youth for the dangers that lie outside our doors so that they will remain in the faith and have a fighting chance.

Yes, the time-bomb is taking off. There's an emerging new science of sex differences on the rise and more and more feminist groups are speaking out against the hypersexualization of culture.

Christopher West says that just like the collapse of communism, the collapse of the pornographic industry will happen quickly if it does because the lies will be ousted and the credibility will no longer stand up. I only pray that happens sooner rather than later.

Whether society reforms or collapses depends on whether there are 10 good people around like the story in the Old Testament. If there were 4 Cure of Ars- America would be reformed.

The bishops have a lot of work to do, to re-educate Catholics about the Truth. It isn't that the Truth is muddy. Not at all. But for 40 years the faithful (using the term loosely) haven't heard much of it from their priests and bishops. It doesn't help that the bishops also have to re-build their own credibility and moral authority. Sad times for the Church.

The rest of us have a lot of work to do, too. We need to act, and we need to pray. We prayed for 40 or 50 years for the conversion of Russia, and that prayer was answered when it began in 1990 or so (it isn't done yet). We may need to pray another 40 or 50 years, and also ask for the courage to speak up, to evangelize, and to testify to the Truth.

My fear is that we will also have to suffer a great deal, both as a consequence of all these years of not paying attention to our job as Christians, and in reparation for our failure. We are already attacked from many sides. It may get much worse, and we should be prepared for that.

Matt,
i recently was referred here by Sarah Calandro (my girlfriend) and i've really enjoyed your insights. I was excited to see the most recent topic.
It's interesting to hear of Christian mega-churches coming up with these "original" ideas that sexuality is actually a good thing. I'm a youth minister in Northern VA and we are in the midst of a 10-week crash course on TOB for high schoolers, and it's been great to see them start catch onto this vision. It's ridiculous to see how much of our culture has been deformed and crippled by distorted views of the body.
Keep up the great work.
